Reyvow Insomnia
Reyvow Adventures
I got a prescription for the migraine medication, Reyvow, 5 months ago. It worked miracles the first few months. It made me drowsy but happily on a cloud of butterflies and rainbows. A couple months ago, it started causing insomnia. Not sleeping well is a huge trigger for my migraines, but Reyvow was so great that I didn’t feel particularly headachey the next day. I always felt clear headed the next day even when I got little sleep.
Besides the Reyvow insomnia, it makes me do dumb things! I was just at an appointment getting my blood drawn and when I was walking out I noticed a man standing in front of the glass door, I thought he was standing right in front of the doorway (it was a small waiting room) and I thought wow sir, you’re right in the way… Only to realize I walked up to a glass wall and the door was on the other side of him 🫡.
Little things like that happen the day after Reyvow. I also feel very woozy, out of it, extremely dizzy and clumsy the next day. This time the next 2 days I still had a bad headache and couldn’t function well at all the next day. So, I’m done taking Reyvow, I’ll talk to the providers at the Migraine Clinic but I can’t imagine a scenario that would cause me to try it again.
The first few months were absolutely wonderful with hardly any side effects. Maybe if I take it less often I’ll find a sweet spot…but I think it’s not going to be worth it to look for that sweet spot. I am way too busy right now, I can’t be losing a day or multiple days of being productive just to feel a little better one day.
Back Pain
I have written about my hip pain that now includes lower back pain here. I went to a Chiropractor who has a massage therapist do her magic for 20 minutes after the adjustments. They had me going 2 times per week for all of March. Towards the end of that month I realized that the pain was hardly any better. Now I am going once a month (because I used up a lot of my insurance units). I guess the pain is slightly better than before I started going to them. I thought it would be much better but at least it’s somewhat better.
One thing that really helps is getting enough exercise. This is great for me because I love to exercise and it makes me feel like a million bucks the day that I do it. It gives me so much energy and zest for the rest of the day. My hip pain that started in 2008 has caused me to not workout nearly as much as I used to and not being able to do all types of exercise or sports that include running.
Needless to say that caused me to fall into a deep depression as exercise was my coping mechanism for a hella long time. I have since found exercises I can do and I am so grateful for that.
Chronic Pain
It really feels better when I am more active. Sometimes it’s a different type of hurt but a different type of hurt feels good compared to the same old hurt that’s lasted almost 20 years. Plus, I know that the type of hurt from being the right amount of active is beneficial. Usually the next day feels pretty darn good (relatively speaking).
Allergies and Fatigue?
This past week I have been dead tired. I don’t know why. It could be stress related, or maybe I have seasonal allergies with no other symptoms besides fatigue, dizziness and more headaches than usual. Is that a thing? I am just throwing out ideas.
Luna’s Paws
Luna’s paws have been bothering her and that causes her to lick them excessively, this causes them to hurt and she even had a limp the other day! Because of this we haven’t gone on our long walks in a while. Luna has seemed extra sleepy so that made me think it’s allergies. It’s rained a few times in the past couple of weeks and it’s spring so everything is blooming.
We just went on a hike, a very short hike because I wanted to make sure her feet would be okay. She seemed fine and happy to be out. We found a gorgeous trail that has a lot of shaded spots since she doesn’t like the sun. She gets too hot even when it’s 55* out. I think getting her some exercise will cause her to get really good sleep and that will mean less time licking her paws and hopefully they’ll heal up in no time.
