Therapist Thinks Chronic Migraines Caused By Unprocessed Emotions — Is This The Key To Curing Chronic Pain?

There are many paths to curing chronic pain, Dr. Sarno believes all chronic pain has origins in our emotions.

I had an appointment today at the Pain Clinic for migraines. They said they’d like me to try nerve blockers since lately I’ve been having daily headaches. I said I’d like to hold off on that, see how this week goes and then think about it again. They gave me the usual cocktail of migraine meds, sumatriptan and torodol injections, and nose blockers. I usually feel pretty damn good after all of that. It made me feel good today but I still feel headachey when I bend down or am outside for too long since it’s so hot out right now.

After that appointment I had a therapy appointment. If you’ve read some of my more recent posts don’t worry, it’s a new therapist whom so far, has been amazing and just what I need for what I’m currently working on. We talked about migraine and chronic pain type ailments—all of which I have. She told me about this doctor, Doctor Sarno. He found out that these type of ailments, that no one else could figure out how to cure, are from unprocessed emotions!

A lot of people get better just by reading his book! I plan to be one of those people 😁

“Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS) is a concept developed by John Sarno, MD, that treats several forms of pain conditions. The theory of Tension Myositis Syndrome is that your mind creates pain symptoms in order to aid in the repression of subconscious thoughts and feelings.”
